In 1967, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., isolated himself from the demands of the civil rights movement, rented a house in Jamaica with no telephone, and labored over his final manuscript. In this prophetic work, which has been unavailable for more than ten years, he lays out his thoughts, plans, and dreams for America's future, including the need for better jobs, higher wages, decent housing, and quality education. With a universal message of hope that continues to resonate, King demanded an end to global suffering, asserting that humankind-for the first time-has the resources and technology to eradicate poverty.

Baker & Taylor
Presents the last book written by King—his final reflections after a decade of civil rights struggles. “[King’s] unique ability to connect the life of the mind to the struggle for freedom is legendary, and in this book—his last grand expression of his vision—he put forward his most prophetic challenge to powers that be and his most progressive program for the wretched of the earth.” —Cornel West. Simultaneous.

Read this book for a book club and decided to re-read it- its chock full of nuggets about the movement and Kings life- I also recommend and have read- Why We Can't Wait and reading them both made it all make sense.
I have a newfound respect for King, his life's work and legacy! Moving forward as we have the discussions about economic inclusion, closing the racial wealth gap, reparations and a black agenda for American Descendants of Slavery. #ADOS
