A beautiful story that winds an active sci-fi world which is beautifully drawn and imagined with a strong message on women's rights. All held together by fully realized characters. Diversity is a strong drive in this book, taking the unique perspective of a futuristic India where Indian and English-based cultures have melded. The tactic works and the reader is provided with a text unlike any other current sci-fi piece. The author shows her prowess in culture blending and is adept at creating an authoritative voice while dealing with new concepts. The pace of the book runs nicely once the premise is set, and action interchanges with dialogue segments, giving a well-balanced feel to the overall piece. Definitely a must-read for teens looking for a sci-fi book that breaks the norm.

I really enjoyed this book (I listened to the audio version.) At first, it seemed like the typical teen love/angst story, but it took a really surprising turn. The characters are all well-realized and feel real. The author has thought out the locations and backstory well, and I felt like I was exploring and learning with Ava. I look forward to reading more from this author.
