A grandmother passes down traditions to her granddaughter through a homemade soup. She also tells a bittersweet tale of how the freedom soup gets it name. With the coming of each New Year the history of the Haitian Revolution is celebrated as a victory for the people of Haiti. Wonderful artwork and story.

A lovely story with deep connections to family, tradition and history. I loved learning about Haiti and its colorful and courageous inhabitants.
