Great series. Glad their making series 9. Love the characters. Plots keep you involved in story lines.

Loved this whole series. Really interesting back stories for these main characters.

My local PBS station across the border in Buffalo has been showing episodes of Vera, off and on, for some time now. After reading "Harbour Street" I realized that the first episode of this video was based on that self same novel. The transition from novel to video goes rather well. Of course something is always lost in such a process. The video is much less gritty; Margaret much less elegant. Vera, however, is much more likeable, much more realistic.
Having said all of that I must say that Vera is well worth watching,
Each episode is ninety minutes long so the story is given ample time to develop: no rush: a good evening's viewing.

I am really enjoying this series. Vera Stanhope is a bit Miss Marple, a bit Colombo, and a bit Inspector Gamache. This season the supporting cast gets a little more screen time, and are all more congenial--but then so is Vera. Still very interesting stories; still well written dialogue; still a bit of a twist to the endings. Well worth your time.

This set included: On Harbor Street, Protected, The Deer Hunter, Death of a Family Man.
I enjoy the plots, the DI characters, and the setting. So different from the American mystery/detective shows on TV. Characters are based on Ann Cleeve's work, but the plots are written by others. Doesn't matter - stories are still good.

One of the series that get better and better. Family theme dominated episodes with interesting characters.

excellent as always. i hope her sidekick doesn't get paid by the line. EVERYONE ELSE has more dialogue. he just accompanies vera so she has someone to talk to.

Such a great character and a wonderful actor to portray her as well. I couldn't imagine another person in the role.
