Book Four in the Magnificent Dune Chronicles&;the Bestselling Science Fiction Adventure of All Time

Millennia have passed on Arrakis, and the once-desert planet is green with life. Leto Atreides, the son of the world&;s savior, the Emperor Paul Muad&;Dib, is still alive but far from human. To preserve humanity&;s future, he sacrificed his own by merging with a sandworm, granting him near immortality as God Emperor of Dune for the past thirty-five hundred years.

Leto&;s rule is not a benevolent one. His transformation has made not only his appearance but his morality inhuman. A rebellion, led by Siona, a member of the Atreides family, has risen to oppose the despot&;s rule. But Siona is unaware that Leto&;s vision of a Golden Path for humanity requires her to fulfill a destiny she never wanted&;or could possibly conceive....

This series is much more philosophical and full of social/political commentary than I was expecting. In fairness, I don't know exactly what I was expecting; I read Dune because it was a science fiction classic - not knowing much more about it than that.

The author has clearly thought a lot about what he wants to say by means of his storytelling.

This is the only sequel to Dune (which I still think is one of the greatest books ever written, no hyperbole,) that I actually like.

A profound thinking book in my opinion. I was hesitant at first to read it after reading a few reviews back in the early 2000s. But, after reading several synopsis highlighting interesting events in the book, I know I have to give it a try. Now, I'm very surprised by so many things happening in the book that I'm glad I've read this book. If you're looking for an action/adventure book, this may not be right for you. But, if you are looking for a book that makes you think about many things, then you should try to read this book.

I loved this book. One of my favorites of the series. This book really continued the story well.

My personal favorite of the Dune sequels. Leto has ruled the entire universe for a few thousand years, just after merging with the sandworms to become a massive half-worm, half-man hybrid. Now that he's built a galactic empire and a religion around himself, he's trying to wind things down. It's probably weirder than it sounds. Good times.

Leto has become the Great Sand Worm -- and is ruling the Universe. He is all knowing and all seeing.
We all know what Absolute power gets...

Great continuing story to the original Trilogy
I count them more as a complete story of 6 books.
