The novel centers on his family and the specifically the death of his only son. Kristin loved this one and is going back and rereading some of O'Farrell's earlier novels because of it. She also mentioned that both she and Sylvia had read "I Am I Am I Am" (linked next) last year and found that a compelling memoir as well. Show less

Kristin threw out a recommendation for Bill of The Astonishing Life of Octavian Nothing for its ties to history of philosophy. It's an odd dense book in 2 volumes. The first volume is linked next. Also discussed was "landscape with Invisible Hand" to which Tiffany Haddish has been attached, which would be of interest to Carolyn. Both of those titles are linked next as is an article about the film adaptation of the latter title. Show less

I thought it did a nice job of showing hope but how hard it is to turn hope into something wished for - longer term." Show less
